Elizabeth and I took ourselves off for an evening with a night in Staithes, North Yorkshire. It was our 8th wedding anniversary and we had a lovely night. Even though it's almost on our door step, I don't remember ever visiting this charming fishing village more than a couple of times. My wife and I both love Robin Hood's Bay ( a little further down the coast), but I must admit, there's a charm here that shines through in a very different way.
Although Staithes is very popular, you don't seem to have the roar of the general public which frequent its more illustrious neighbour No, Staithes is more for those in the know, and now we both know, we plan to spend a lot more time in this very beautiful place.
For those of you looking to spend a night in Staithes and are seeking accommodation I can recommend contacting Staithes Gallery, we stayed in a cottage behind the gallery and it smashing. In case you didn't know, Staithes is a magnet for artists and I'm told that Laura Johnson used our room as her studio in the 1900's. Here's a link showing more fabulous images of Staithes .
Thanks again for looking!
Keith
